Artist Statement

I am an abstract painter recently working on a series "IT'S A TEXTURED WORLD". As the title suggests, my works are influenced by the textures I see in my environment (tree trunks, weathered walls, rusted metal etc.). The surfaces I create on canvas and or wood panels are vibrant, gritty and tactile, partly influenced by my emotional connection to nature around me.
Apart from a textured look and feel, my works are also a blend of East meets West cultures. The vibrancy of my works is influenced by my upbringing in the East Indian culture, and the subtle motifs and design elements I incorporate into my works are the designs and patterns that are used in the South Asian architecture and garments.
I am an award-winning artist who has been creating art for over 30 years. I have participated in over 150+ juried art shows in the US and have sold works locally and internationally.
I look forward to sharing part of my cultural influence in my new style of unique works with the community.
