Artist Statement

I am a Chicago-bred, LA-based Black queer artist working across music, visual media, and editorial storytelling. My practice centers softness as resistance, intimacy as archive, and pleasure as political language. Drawing from lived experience, I create work that honors vulnerability, desire, and emotional honesty within Black gay life.

I challenge mainstream narratives that flatten queer Black bodies into stereotypes, instead prioritizing tenderness, erotic presence, and self-definition. I am interested in the quiet moments after the party, the space between friends and lovers, and the courage it takes to be visible in worlds not built for us.


Through projects like He’s Not Shy, I explore identity as something fluid, layered, and embodied. I use image, sound, and text to reclaim agency over representation—creating spaces that affirm pleasure, softness, and self-definition. My work exists as both documentation and dream: preserving stories while imagining futures where Black queer people move freely, love openly, and take up space without apology.

Ultimately, I create to honor my community, to reflect and respect our complexity, and to remind us that our bodies, desires, and stories are worthy of being ours centered in our life and creations.
