Artist Statement

I am a multidisciplinary Zapotec artist that specializes in printmaking, painting, and site specific installations. Throughout my work I recontextualize catholic iconography, Zapotec culture, and gendered constructs to collapse time and bring versions of Zapotec Indigenous Futures to the present. By using gender, religion, borders as a framework my work speaks to reimagining and reconstructing foundations of knowledge that was wiped out during the conquest of my people.
