Artist Statement

My paintings are portals to see the world within ourselves. They highlight the animacy of the non-human beings that we share the earth with, and the friction of coexisting on our anthropocentric planet. In my work, the presence of humans is etched into the land, and ecological relationships are often personified. I am a true romantic at heart- painting is my love letter to my home, and my bouquet of flowers to the flowers themselves.

Both naturalistic and intentionally staged, I paint single moments of gentleness, gratitude, contemplation, or reckoning which echo our current moment of an uncertain future. All dressed in a hazy light, could it be the warm glow of hope, or the harbinger of a storm?
