Artist Statement

I am fascinated by people. I love portraiture because of the expressions you can capture. I love studying faces. If you find me staring at you, I am not being rude but rather mesmerized by your face and how it captures light and shadows.

Oil is my favorite medium because I love its buttery feel and it's blending ability. Love working Alla Prima, I believe that you can best capture the expressions or emotions in a person when they are right in front of you.

Although Portraiture and Figurative work are my first love, I have discovered Plein Air. I must say that I have fallen in love painting the landscape. Being in fresh air and painting nature is mesmerizing. In addition, it allows you to travel and capture all that you see. Fascinating!

I am influenced by Sargent, Sorolla, Dan Gerhartz , Mary Cassat, and so many others.
