Artist Statement

The expression of beauty in any subject is my primary goal. I am always looking for the flow of light that creates the magic in the form, whether it is still life, landscape, portrait or figure. My preference is to paint from life and on location to best capture my first artistic impressions and emotional connection to the subject. I seek to convey a unique character and mood in each painting, such as tranquility, rhythmic patterns, high energy, solidity, or grace to name a few. While seeking to record a specific moment, I strive to create a dialogue between art and life.

Although I would describe my painting style as representational with an impressionistic sensibility, I enjoy experimenting with different approaches to paint application and composition depending upon the subject matter. I am always reaching for excellence in each artistic expression.
