Artist Statement

My work is a dance of balancing intricate lines, dots, blurs, smudges and washes. They develop sometimes in planned compositions and sometimes occur as part of a subconscious progressions of composing a visceral structure and composition. The inspirations are endless, occurring in reality, mostly patterns and nature, and others are visions undoubtedly pieces extrapolated from reality and reconfigured in my head. Every picture is a challenge and I love the combination of representational images and the balancing and composing of abstract elements and how I intentionally and unconsciously drift between the two
It is amazing to me how a blank canvas or piece of paper continues to exhilarate and overwhelm. The endless possibility and things to explore. One of my greatest satisfactions is finding a niche within that small defined world that provides direction and an easing of being overwhelmed both by the parameters of that canvas and the larger world.
I am fully engaged as a constant explorer and researcher who could not live without art making and the experience of other people's creative endeavors will forever drive me.
