Artist Statement

I use silver & other metals to bring out a stone's character with shape, color, patinas & texture. My work is detailed on all sides, in a manner to be worn more than one way. I am inspired by natural flowing elements (water, vines, roots) & urban ones (like rivets & pylons).

My asymmetrical, organic, urban jewelry uses silver, bronze, copper & brass-all the metalwork is hand forged. I use many metalsmithing techniques, including 'lost wax casting': I sculpt a piece in wax and then molten metal is cast into the mold created, destroying it. No piece is repeated. I add unusual semiprecious stones and vintage glass and pearls-usually from the 1950s era, which have deeper colors and interesting shapes. I recycle my metal. I love making wedding bands and meaningful pieces.
