Artist Statement

My approach is rooted in observation and collaboration. I work with subjects to create a space of trust, openness, and authenticity, allowing them to exist naturally in front of the camera. Attentiveness to nuance, small gestures, shared glances, and ordinary interactions; reveals the richest stories. The resulting images reflect both the individuality of the subject and the broader relational contexts in which they live, offering portraits that are at once personal and universal.

A central concern in my practice is the experience of aging and intergenerational connection. I am interested in how older adults sustain relationships, navigate the world, and carry histories that inform both family and community. By focusing on these moments, I aim to make visible the quiet strength and vitality of individuals often overlooked, capturing not only appearance but presence, rhythm, and emotional resonance.

In addition to interpersonal intimacy, my work engages with broader social and cultural dynamics, situating individuals within networks of family, neighborhood, and community. I document the ways people maintain connection and continuity across generations, highlighting relationships that nurture resilience, identity, and belonging. Through these portraits, I explore how care, presence, and mutual support shape lives and create meaning, particularly in communities where these bonds are essential to well-being.

Ultimately, my photography is an exploration of presence, connection, and continuity. It is concerned with capturing moments that reveal the depth, complexity, and vitality of human relationships while celebrating the dignity and agency of the people I photograph. By focusing on intergenerational intimacy, daily rituals, and lived experience, I aim to create work that is both reflective and resonant, offering viewers a space to consider the power of human connection and the stories we carry across time.
