Beatrice Powell

Artist Statement

Beatrice Powell is an artist whose work is centered around the suburban environment and modern psyche. She is primarily a 2D artist, and is interested in drawing, painting, printmaking and photography. Her work utilizes blank space, fine lines, flat geometry, alongside soft edges, light, and muted colors. She plays with both the real and imagined to examine leisure, escapism, and memory with the goal of probing at the unconscious routines and rituals of the modern American. She explores the off beat moments of contemporary living, and the edge between the unsettling and comfortable.
