ZIGI Han
Artist Statement
Korean abstract artist trained in traditional Oriental painting, integrating ink and hanji paper into contemporary works. Exhibited at Costa Mesa Art Venture. My work is rooted in my background in traditional Korean and East Asian painting, which continues to influence my approach to abstraction. By combining Eastern artistic philosophy with contemporary abstract expression, I explore the relationship between stillness and movement, tradition and modernity, intuition and structure.
Using layered textures, organic forms, and expressive color compositions, I create visual spaces that reflect emotional landscapes and personal memory. The fluidity of brushwork and the meditative process of mark-making are deeply connected to my training in Asian painting traditions.
Rather than depicting literal subjects, my paintings invite viewers to experience atmosphere, emotion, and contemplation. Through the fusion of traditional Eastern sensibilities and contemporary abstraction, I aim to create work that transcends cultural boundaries while remaining connected to my Korean artistic identity.
