Artist Statement

Artist Bio
Multidimensional creative Liz Lambson from Salt Lake City is a musician, writer, actress, and visual artist with drawing, cartooning, large-scale mural, painting, and collage experience. In addition to making art, Liz is a classical string bassist performing with the Ballet West Orchestra and actress represented by McCarty Talent Agency in the film community. Liz is most content when her creative cogs are turning and productivity is high, adding any and all of her creative work to the big portfolio of Life.

Artist Statement
Having lost both my parents (one to death by suicide) and my marriage through divorce, grief feels like a constant companion in my life — invited or uninvited, welcome or unwelcome depending on the day or moment. My artistic practices are inextricably tied to processing of all the wreckage in my head.

These three collaged portraits of carved marble heads — statuesque and unmoving facades — represent faces unable to communicate inner torment that escapes the body in ways beyond what a facial expression alone can express.

FML* exposes dry, thirsty, dying roots in contrast to lush green branches above: greenery that will wither if the roots don’t recover. The figure knows its fate, aware that pain below the surface threatens life above. (*Note: A censored version of this with a different title is available if the phrase on the hat may offend.)

Run the tap 'til it's clear is a Iyric from "Savior Complex" by Phoebe Bridgers. Muddy waters run clear when filtered through the eyes, forming crystals over time.

Germination depicts growth, wisdom, healing, and beauty that can spring forth from the mind. Germinating thoughts may bloom and burgeon over time.
