Artist Statement

I began painting because my older brother said there’s no homework if you take an art class. I was 14 years old. I’m now 65. I did stubbornly decide I was a writer for a few decades, but eventually it became self evident that this is what I am, a painter. So I’ve been trying to get “it” right for about 35 years, give or take. Other than the people (and dogs) that I love, this is the most important thing that I do.
