Artist Statement

For me art is using the act of creation to process and respond to my emotions, using it to understand trauma and pain. I am a life long artist who enjoys untraditional processes and mediums, creating both two dimensional and three dimensional works. When creating I like to work with tradition mediums like paint, clay, and paper as well as obscure materials such as wood nails, seashells, or human hair to make loud elaborate textures. Rich and powerful color palettes dominate my work as an expression of my depth of feeling. I enjoy blending fine and craft such fiber arts and sculpture. I believe that the mediums and materials used should invoke emotional reactions. Exploration is at the heart of my work; I explore my emotions through creation. I want to inspire others to feel deeply and search for understanding through creation.
