Morgan Tashjian

Artist Statement

Morgan Tashjian is a Tri-State area based fine artist and graphic designer. Utilizing self-portraiture through representational and symbolic means, she interprets how past experiences informed her perception of the present; themes of transience, loss of innocence, and cultural identity are used to achieve this. Her work has received formal recognition including the 2024 Undergraduate Annual Gallery Award for Exceptional Achievement (Mason Gross Galleries), Novak Frank P. and Lily A. Endowed Scholarship (Mason Gross School of the Arts), and Scholastic Art & Writing regional Gold Key in Sculpture. Currently, Tashjian is a BFA student in Design & Printmaking at Rutgers University–New Brunswick Honors College.

Working across print (silkscreen, intaglio, lithography, relief, monotype), design (digital, print), sculpture (ceramics, clay, cardboard, textiles, found objects), painting, and illustration, Tashjian combines her interdisciplinary skillset to finalize artwork. By pulling from these skillsets and local knowledge, she aims to invite viewers into vignettes of the larger worlds and stories she envisions.
