Artist Statement
I am an abstract artist whose work is rooted in color, movement, and emotional resonance. My paintings are not about replicating what is seen, but about translating the energy of what is felt. Each canvas becomes a space where intuition leads and layers of paint, texture, and gesture form a language of their own.
I have been a long-time student at Wayne Art Center, where I have studied with a wide range of working artists and instructors over many years. The diversity of approaches and voices I’ve encountered there have shaped my process, allowing me to experiment freely while finding a vocabulary that is uniquely mine.
In my work, I often begin without a fixed destination. Instead, I allow the colors and marks to evolve through dialogue—sometimes chaotic and explosive, sometimes meditative and atmospheric. Some of my pieces channel the restless energy of layered thought, where overlapping shapes and bold hues collide in unpredictable rhythm.
"Nightfall’s Embrace" is an exploration of the transitional magic between day and night, capturing the profound stillness and mystery that descends as darkness gathers. This painting began with an impulse to convey how twilight can envelop not only the landscape but also our inner worlds, infusing them with dream and reflection. Deep, layered blues merge with hints of green and yellow light, suggesting fleeting moments of hope or memory that persist as night falls.
Through broad, expressive gestures and textured color shifts, I sought to portray the sense of comfort and introspection found in shadows, rather than fear or solitude. The cool palette is animated by subtle movement and depth, drawing viewers into a space where the natural world and human emotion meet. "Nightfall’s Embrace" invites you to linger in the gentle transition—to find meaning within dusk’s embrace and honor the stories held by the quiet, hidden hours.
For me, abstraction is an act of both release and discovery. It is about trusting that what emerges on the canvas will connect—visually, emotionally, and energetically—with those who stand before it.
