Tony diPasquale: Artist Statement

My work is sculpted in clay, cast in plaster, and finished with a patina of pigment and wax to give the appearance of oxidized bronze.

While based in reality, my work should not be defined as classic realism, re-creation of objective reality, or traditional portraiture.

Human features and characteristics are foundational elements in each piece. However, interpretation, emphasis, intensity, and the materials/processes themselves are used to convey emotion and message.
