Artist Statement

I create tension, visual texture, and atmosphere in my abstract oil paintings by alternating the removal and addition to areas and layers of paint, marking into them, adding lines or marks. This is meant as a visual meditation on the intricacies of life, people, and situations. Through my process I utilize and explore traditional painting techniques and materials in contemporary painting.
