Artist Statement

I'm True Tourtillott of Alma Knife co. I specialize in high-quality kitchen tools made with premium steels, featuring unique handle designs and exceptional craftsmanship.

Alma Knife Co. is dedicated to supporting early-in-career, POC, women & LGBTQ cooks while creating functional art pieces that enhance the culinary experience. My knives are not just tools, but extensions of the chef and a celebration of our shared culinary histories combining traditional Japanese techniques with modern aesthetics. I prioritize performance, durability, and a commitment to sustainable practices.

I don't use CNC and everything is 100% hand-made. All of my work is hand-forged, heat-treated, ground and finished by me in my Mountain View workshop. Rather than producing multiple identical versions of the same piece; each is a unique, one-of-a-kind heirloom kitchen tool.
