Artist Statement
Introducing my Junk Family
Built from vintage treasures and discarded junk: old signs, game pieces, toys and random relics. The mosh of found objects and acrylic paint blend into strange but likable characters. Friendly but sardonic, each piece tells a story. They tug at childhood memories while inviting viewers to pause, touch - yes, please touch! - and explore their surfaces.
Heroic dogs are a fav topic, along with tongue-in-cheek warnings about their dangers. My newer pieces include toy guns, a nod to the messages we all received as children and especially, the challenges of living with them today.
