Artist Statement
After more than fifteen years working in the fast-paced world of startups, I stepped away and found myself drawn back to the natural world. In slowing down, I began noticing moments of quiet vitality, such as light on petals after rain, the tension of a bud about to open, and the subtle presence of living forms. Painting became a way to hold onto those moments and explore their emotional resonance.
Working primarily in oil, I create intimate, close-cropped studies of natural forms. My paintings are rooted in firsthand observation but move beyond documentation. I am interested in the space between stillness and aliveness, where light reveals renewal, fragility, and quiet strength. Color and atmosphere play a central role, allowing each subject to feel immersive rather than distant.
The act of painting is meditative and attentive. It asks for patience, careful looking, and a willingness to remain with an image until it begins to breathe. Through this process, I seek to express intimacy, hope, and quiet joy found in moments of emergence.
I hope viewers experience the work as an invitation to pause, to feel present with the living world, and to recognize the subtle beauty that persists around them.
