Artist Statement

Through her practice, she seeks a comprehensive understanding of how the function of an object extends beyond its materiality and often communicates something unseen. Her process involves combining material from personal archives, and other materials that are imbued with cultural history and tradition. Recurring interests in her work include investigating the power of objects, positionally, and animism. Currently, she is interested in exploring concepts surrounding mythology and world-building. The driving force behind these interests stems from the desire to providing these objects or figures with an environment to create and exist and to terraform a world that is conducive to their desires. She often employs gold leafing, hand-building, and mold-making with clay, alongside other materials like concrete, PVC, and paint for larger sculptures. By centering her work around ceramics and sculpture, she physically interacts with these materials and continues to imagine what extending the body into space can mean.
