Artist Statement

I have always been captivated by the spiritual beauty inherent in wood. I am especially drawn to the process of creating art on the lathe, although I also enjoy other forms of working with wood.

From the initial experience of turning my first piece over 30 years ago, I was hooked. My work has won numerous awards over the years at "Fine Art and Craft Shows" throughout the southeast. While living in Florida I was a featured artist on WGCU - TV's "Art's Edition Primetime".

My goal is to produce art in simple, classic shapes whether it be polychromatic segmented, pieces pierced with intricate patterns, colored, inlayed, textured or some combination of these techniques. They are a synthesis of pottery and glass, using the simple, classic shapes of Oriental, European and Native American forms. My intent is that these simple, classic shapes will spark your imagination and draw you to the timeless and endearing beauty that is wood.
