Francie Klopotic

Artist Statement

Growing up in East Atlanta Village during the early 1970s, I lived in a psychedelic, hippie-saturated environment, filled with incredible music and colorful characters. My child-world was a kaleidoscope of cultural diversity that I whole-heartedly embraced. I was exposed to musicians like Marc Bolan and David Bowie at a very young age. Some of my art reflects that early exposure to glam rock and hippie culture. I discovered Pop Art as a teenager and became a devotee of Peter Max and Andy Warhol. My taste for bold, expressive works evolved from there. I currently live in Augusta, Georgia and am very active in the arts community.

My preferred medium for 45 years was graphite pencils. In 2021, I tried painting portraits with acrylics for the first time and fell in love with the medium and with color. In 2024, I began working in oils and creating monoprints using acrylic, ink and watercolor. In 2025 I took a departure from the portraiture I’m known for and began exploring the exciting realm of abstracts.

In September 2025, I was juried in as a Signature Member of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA)
