Artist Statement

Painting is an adventure. You never quite know where it will lead. Filled with hills and valleys, light and dark, joy and wonder. Seeking to represent a feeling, a thought, a moment in time. Open to interpretation and bringing meaning to those that see it by reminding them of a time or place from their own experience.

I enjoy painting in oil because it provides flexibility and the ability to work with many layers that complement each other. From painting outside in varying types of weather to inside the studio, each environment has its own special process. By using different types of lighting, moving to different locations and changing your viewpoint, you can keep your work both interesting and constantly changing. This ability to keep creating is what is so captivating.
