Greg Stone
Artist Statement
My work explores personal themes of anxiety, relationships, and family, often the including elements and references to personal interests like music, history and current events. Always, the goal is to make work that is universal, as nothing I experience, feel, and convey through my work is unique to me. The work is a form of therapy and a way to form relationships with others. I make work that is personal and political, that captures moments, places, and feelings both shared and individual, with an emphasis on color, mark-making, and narrative. Often I play with visual space, layers and depth creating landscapes and images that are bright and fantastical, but full of personal and cultural references.
