Artist Statement

Nature inspires what I call Emotional Realism. Walking into my studio one sees a variety of media. No matter the medium, my goal is to create a sense of dimensionality.

My 3D process is much like how I approach my two-dimensional artistry. I believe my gourds are unique in the world of gourd art. In my shop I use small power tools to create the intricate cutting on many of my gourds.

Forest Delights series is an off-shoot of my gourd sculptures. Harvested bark, leaves cut from gourds or created with polymer clay.
