Artist Statement

I am an interdisciplinary artist working in illustration, sculpture, book art, installation, and animation. I use paper as my primary material because of its delicate, vulnerable, yet resilient quality. My work is heavily influenced by motifs and archetypes found in fairy tales and mythology, which I use to understand and explore the relationship between femininity and sexuality. I am particularly fascinated by themes and figures associated with death, the underworld, and the journey of the descent. I represent these ideas through a sense of fluidity, security, and abstracted, distorted, or idealized visions of beauty.
