Artist Statement

I work in monochrome abstraction to register emotion as it unfolds in real time. Each painting is an immediate record of pressure, speed, and choice: the body moving across the surface, leaving traces of impact and hesitation.

Using acrylic with a limited black-and-white palette, I build and revise the surface with palette knife and roller. Layers accumulate, are scraped back, and reworked; accidents are not corrected but absorbed into the final structure, so that the painting holds both decision and doubt.

The images rarely resolve into a single, stable state. Transparent strata partially conceal earlier marks, allowing previous gestures to flicker through the surface. As certain details emerge and recede, the work proposes a unresolved dialogue in which the viewer completes the painting through their own perception, memory, and association.

This practice is shaped by the emotional weight of personal history and current events. Moving between Greece and the American Midwest, I return to the studio from an instinctive need to make the invisible pressures of experience visible, giving form to what would otherwise remain undefined.
