Bobbye Cochran
Artist Statement
I work in oil, Flashe, and acrylic, using bold marks and strong color to explore the feeling of a subject rather than describe it exactly. My work often begins with a hint of landscape or the human form, but it shifts as I work, becoming more abstract and intuitive.
I’m drawn to high-contrast color and the push and pull between line and open space. I like the balance between control and letting things happen—some of the best moments come from that unpredictability.
I want the work to connect right away, but also hold your attention over time. Rather than telling a fixed story, I leave space for viewers to bring their own thoughts and experiences to what they see.
