ROBIN BROWNFIELD
Artist Statement
I, Robin Brownfield, am a former sociology professor in Collingswood, New Jersey who turned to art after becoming disabled. I have created murals, garden walkways, and countless other mosaic works. Touted as one of the best mosaic artists in New Jersey by Best of NJ magazine, I was featured in a FOX-29 (Philadelphia) News report, because, after she saw my Black Lives Matter mosaics, I was commissioned by Tamika Palmer to do a mosaic portrait of her daughter, Breonna Taylor, whose death, in part, launched an international movement for justice for victims of racist murders. That portrait can be seen in the new documentary “Bree Way: Promise Witness Remembrance.”
I have designed and completed several public art projects in Collingswood, NJ, including a mosaic mural for an elementary school, and new sign for the same school, an ornate mosaic bench in the Collingswood Mediation Garden in Newton Lake Park, Collingswood, and a human sized mosaic butterfly statue in front of the business district of West Collingswood.
I am submitting three of my mosaics for this exhiit.
