Artist Statement

I use the unique properties of epoxy resin to create physical manifestations of our human connection with nature. Through my sculptures, I hope to convey an awareness to the viewer, enticing them to see the world around us in more detail. At the center of my practice is an appreciation for the smaller beauties in nature that are otherwise taken for granted.

Epoxy resin, a form of plastic, cures with a high gloss finish that mimics the qualities of water. Resin can convey symbolic associations such as life, renewal, intuition, reflection, transformation, and energy. The process is usually a long one and can be tedious at times, but it has become a form of meditation in which I am able to feel renewed, reflect, and transform – much like water.

For the past few years, I have been exploring and experimenting with epoxy resin that has proven to be a powerful medium for self-discovery. I have been able to reconnect with nature and see the world in a new light. I invite the viewer to allow my body of work to renew their connection with nature and reflect on the beauties of the world.
