Artist Statement

Joan Capaldo Biography

Joan Capaldo was born and raised in New Jersey, where she developed an early passion for the visual arts. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from Kean College. Joan enjoyed a successful career in visual merchandising, which offered opportunities to express her creativity and advance professionally.

While working full time and raising a family, Joan made time to experiment with watercolors. She was drawn to the medium’s luminous colors and delicate transparency. Now that her family has grown, her focus has returned fully to watercolor painting.

Joan is a member of the Hunterdon Watercolor Society, the Garden State Watercolor Society, and the New Jersey Watercolor Society. Nature, people, and her travels inspire her work, and her enjoyment of photography helps her capture images that later become paintings. Joan and her family live near a beautiful trout stream in Hunterdon County.
