Sonya Maizell

Artist Statement

Sonya Rose is a New Jersey based jeweler whose work is made to delight the wearer with small touches of sparkle and color, finding beauty within the combination of human design and natural wonder. Through sculptural, highly-polished forms and unusual, organic gemstones, she explores the cosmic interconnectedness of all things.

Her brand, Nine Birds, was founded in 2010. It is inspired by the nine elements that influence her designs: her jewelry elders, geometry, femininity, the forest, the cosmos, the earth, the human body, the celestial harmony of the universe, and her grandmother.
