Artist Statement

My studio practice, much like playing music is an act of self expression allowing for unlimited interpretation to manifest in a final piece. Having created images and played piano my entire life each discipline has always influenced the other. My visual art has evolved over time where negative and positive space balance to create surface tension. Subject matter is rendered in composites floating in space or singularly rendered over the picture plane. Many of the images I choose have a very personal reference in my life symbolizing a metaphor for the human condition. I create different series based on specific themes. My work is influenced by the natural world. I am a multi media artist working in traditional, digital and found objects that find their way into my work. My intention is to bring the viewer to experience my personal space of observation and stir curiosity about the subject.
