Artist Statement

In my work, I seek opportunities to unravel and reorder the industrialized past. Steering columns, designed to direct mechanized contraptions become gateways for curious pedestrians. All manner of aging machinery is fair game in the dance to repurpose, where jewels are plucked from the bowels of discarded excess, finding new settings in sculptural form.

Steel serves as the backbone of these creations, backbones laden with antique exoskeletons. Other metals contribute to the story told by each piece. Copper, brass, bronze, and aluminum, all work in unison to communicate a comprehensible message. And that message, always finds its genesis in nature.

Observing this, the interplay between industry and nature, the strength and pride of the former succumbs to the latter. Once, where mans quest to dominate roared with power, a quiet three dimensional figure casts a steely gaze, inviting contemplation.
