Artist Statement
Environment exerts a profound influence as I witness, with awe, how the ever-changing light transforms the colors of land, sea, and sky from moment to moment at the Pacific Ocean where I reside.
I work in a non-representational style, knowing that colors and abstract shapes can evoke a range of feelings and narratives without the presence of realistic images.
Drawn to textures and patterns, I am fascinated by how textiles and papers have been central to human life since ancient times. I gather them from around the world, including those that once had another home or would otherwise go into a landfill. I also dye and paint cloth and paper.
