Artist Statement
I grew up on a market garden in rural Suffolk UK and I like to think my work has been influenced by being close to nature and having parents who loved plants. I enjoyed painting botanical studies with every tiny detail when I was a teenager and this expanded into imaginative scenes which led me into book illustration.
I became a freelance illustrator for many years, until I discovered printmaking in 2014, which enabled me to explore my own ideas and try new techniques.
I enjoy finding patterns in nature which reflect our interconnectedness with the universe. Branches in our lungs look the same as tree branches, and a snail shell is reflected in a distant galaxy. I like to explore the idea that we are just part of something much greater and nature is at the core of everything.
