Artist Statement

My artistic practice explores the relationship between figure and space trough simplified, geometric compositions. Growing up in Bor, Serbia, a post-communist industrial town, shaped my perception of space and atmosphere, guiding me toward geometric, simplified environments where people appear both present and out of place. These places reflect the emotional imprint of my environment, evoking subtle tension, melancholy, and introspection.

I focus on distilling the space to their essential elements, creating sterile imagined environments that emphasize psychological distance and isolation. Figures are introduced without disturbing the space, symbolizing attemted connections that can not be fully realized. Tis approach highlights the boundary between individual and environment.
I use acrylics for painting, as well as a cool toned palette consisting of mainly blues for the geometrical space, inviting the viewers to reflect on the boundaries between self and space, solitude and loneliness.
