Jenny Brown
Artist Statement
Over the past two decades, I have been making art which seeks to challenge our long held understandings of the universe. With a focus on ideas surrounding the most nostalgic, curious, and futuristic aspects of the natural world, I ask the viewer to consider all possible timelines and outcomes for my subjects.
I am a 1996 graduate of Bennington College and received my MFA in 2005 from The School of Visual Arts, where I focused on the study of painting, drawing, and collage. I moved to Rhode Island in 2008, and currently work out of an antique and vintage paper filled studio in Providence’s Olneyville neighborhood. In 2025 I had the good fortune to show my work with the Dryden Gallery (Providence, RI), and lead both drawing and collage workshops at Erase Studio (Providence, RI) and Squam Art Workshops (Holderness, NH). In the spring of 2026, my studio was featured in Where Women Create magazine, alongside an essay I wrote about being a “late bloomer” in the art world.
