Artist Statement
Recently, I have been exploring surrealist objects, the relationship between form and surface, and the ways clay can convey feelings, emotions, and lost memories. My ceramics are intended to trigger a response—curiosity, recognition, discomfort, humor, or reflection.
Much of my work is editorial, responding to the political and social climate around us. I transform familiar objects into unexpected forms, allowing them to become vessels for stories, emotions, and questions about the world we inhabit.
The Milk Bottle Series begins with slip-cast ceramic milk bottles combined with human body parts—hands, feet, and faces. These are not simply representations of everyday objects; they are alive. Some speak, some cry, and each has its own presence and needs. All require milk, whether as actual nourishment or as a metaphor for the emotional energy, attention, connection, and care required to survive.
Through these surreal objects, I explore what happens when the familiar becomes human, when an object develops a voice, and when clay gives form to memories and emotions that might otherwise remain unspoken.
