Artist Statement
I work from direct observation painting a response that shifts and changes.
Painting connects me to time, place and energy as I work quickly.
There’s also a feeling of vulnerability— as I am chasing something that slips away.
Painting for me is a back-and-forth process between discovery and doubt, awareness and movement.
I take photos, but I rarely use them. My interest isn’t in holding onto an image, but in the
experience of seeing and responding to change as it happens.
