Artist Statement

My art is very personal and is born organically from my life experiences. I tend to internalize events in life and process them through creative and artistic expression. The silver lining for me would be if others can enjoy, relate, heal or find a sense of comfort through my art. I find that much of my art comes from my subconscious and I often do not know the true meaning behind what I am creating until it is completed, when I can step back with some objectivity. I use acrylic paint in a private setting outdoors with nature or in my home studio. I will get ideas and visions for my pieces, let them develop in my head for months or even years while working it through with rough sketches. I suppose my art is influenced by Pop Art artists such as Keith Haring, Andy Warhol and Alex Katz. Love is often a central theme within my art.
