Artist Statement

My love of making art comes from the way it lets me explore my feelings and how I exist in the natural world. When I make a self-portrait, I imbue it with a sad tone because of my naturally sad look. When I rest my face, my lips curve down, and my eyebrows furrow. To me, it is the same with drawing nature, I see my own experiences reflected in natural elements. The way seasons change mirrors how I grow and shift. By blending self-portraiture and nature, my art becomes a bridge for my internal feelings to be shown in a different way other than words.
