Artist Statement

Through traditional and digital mediums, Genevieve works to capture those overlooked, unseen details or moments that forms the foundation of our day yet it has the power to transform it. The act of seeing a shadow, a flash of color, an architecture detail, or the color of thread on a traditional garment, and distilling them into works of art can disrupt autopilot, share a cultural story, and connect one with a moment bigger than one’s self. Combining subtle historical elements with modern color palettes, fresh perspectives with unique cultural fusion, Genevieve hopes to encourage moments of awe in the everyday through the act of seeing what is already there.
