Artist Statement

I create intuitive, layered paintings using acrylic and mixed media, building surfaces through repeated acts of adding, taking away, and re-working multiple layers. Incorporating tactile materials to create texture and depth, add to the visceral experience of both creating and experiencing the work. Structured yet organic, my compositions explore balance and the tension between separation and connection. I am inspired by the process of finding balance within myself when in connection with others, and learning to maintain my own sense of authenticity and self-sovereignty. The work reflects my deep engagement with process as both a creative, healing and grounding force. Through colour, rhythm, texture, and layered form, I work intuitively, allowing the act of making to lead me somewhere I may not have been able to arrive at through words or thought alone. My work is deeply intertwined with my healing journey—a practice of listening, discovering, and continually finding my way back to myself.
