Artist Statement

My stone sculptures are about yearning for a perfect state, one half imagined and unattainable. Woman’s work is unstoppable, and no theory or fact of disillusion seems to slow us in our dream to collectively put another foot forward in living out this time and seeking happiness.
My yearning to make sculptures reflect the reality of identities is not perfect and is also only half imagined. At its best removing stone is like a walk in pristine wilds, where the ambitions of my labor seem to have appeared almost effortlessly. At its worst its slow laborious process allows one me to meditate the identity of the portrait into being.
