Amalia Zamfir

Artist Statement

My name is Amalia and I am currently a second year sculpture student at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts. My work as a sculptor is driven by a deep fascination with form, gesture, and composition, and how they work together to breathe life into clay. I view each piece I make as an exploration into lived experiences, shaped by an ongoing interest in themes of impermanence, fragility, and identity.

I am currently focused on learning all that I can about the human figure and working technically with clay, however my goal for the future is to create more expressive work that lives beyond the physical sculpture and inspires reflection. My current inspirations are Camille Claudel, Paolo Troubetzkoy, and Leonardo Bistolfi. I highly admire and aspire to the level of sensitivity and rhythmic poetry in their works.
