Artist Statement

I typically do a rough sketch of the idea on paper, I find that I am able to add more detail and more precise with pencil, this allows for the best translation of my ideas. After the sketch is done, I typically follow up with a more polished, "cleaned up" version of the piece, adding little details that I believe may enhance the piece. I then take a break and attempt to find inspiration, whether it be through media I happen to stumble across, or pulling from real life examples. More often than not, I find that when adding color, simple shapes in different sizes and forms and values often create more visually appealing works of art and it takes less effort on my part initially. Ultimately, when the work is in its key form with line art and color, I decide whether or not to render further to see which art style fits the subject of the piece best.
