Artist Statement
My art incorporates many creative techniques to connect with art lovers of any budget - from small pieces with eye catching detail to large, multi-dimensional art where wooden elements are strung with nearly invisible clear line and tensioned within the frame, creating the illusion of a floating mosaic. This technique emerged from an interest in ingenuity and problem-solving, finding ways to honor fragility while maintaining structure. The clear line disappears at a distance, yet up close reveals the engineering that holds each piece in balance. Light, shadow, and negative space become active components of the composition, shifting as the viewer moves around the work.
The process of making is slow and meditative. Each fragment is handled individually, strung with care, and placed through repetition and patience, resulting in something purely unique that challenges the traditional rigidity of mosaic construction and invites movement and breath into the work.
